CUSTOM CORSETS - THE FUNDAMENTAL LINE
Usually available only online and at some exhibits.
Note: Congratulations to our corsetiere Jill and
her new daughter, Emily. And welcome back to our fine
ROMANTASY corsetiere team!
You asked -- and we responded with an online-only
line of fully custom corsetry that is extremely
well-priced, popular, easy to research, and easy-to-order.
Please note that because of the demand for our corsets, our production time
approximates one to two months. You may request an earlier date which
may require a fee for 'rush' service; please inquire.
This Line is designed with clear simple and basic choices
of fabric and design, to provide high quality corsetry
to fit within the budget of a corset novice, student,
corset enthusiast desiring to experiment with a new style
or fabric, or budget-challenged bride.
To ensure a great value in this Fundamental Line,
most styles give you the option to save $30-45 for a
single (versus four) layer, unlined corset. However, please
understand that our recommended three or four-layer corset
will always be stronger and more durable,
is recommended for clients with waistlines 40" and over, and
required for clients with waistlines of 45" and over.
Despite the simplicity of this line, we also
offer you several unique options and design features to
allow more fun in creating
your own individual design, such as:
- traditional Victorian flossing (decorative embroidery
at the top and bottom of each bone channel, seen on the
red silk corset right top, with style choices below right),
- the unusual square-tabbed bodice
of the 18th century style (we've never seen
that design feature before, shown below right),
and
- satin ruched garters (black satin on green corset shown
below center)
- traditional removable and engravable
(stay tuned for examples) Renaissance wood busks for
suitable corset styles
- traditional linen (samples below left) and
- embroidered grommet holes (sample below right; 16-18 total $80;
may be ordered on individual style page)
We also feature especially good value in this line with
limited styles produced by our senior corsetieres
such as Sharon McCoy Morgan. Her four-panel per side
"Bella" Victorian corset is very popular as an excellent,
strong
waist-training corset
(modeled below top row left, in two colors of blue cotton-backed
satin, bottom row left
in celedon Chinese brocade, and bottom row center in hot pink
and white denim.)
We also plan to introduce our new intern corsetieres on
this page, such as the talented Jill Hoverman seen left.
Jill made the lovely red silk Victorian overbust corset
pictured top right,
and the satin-ruched garters and the square tabbed 18th century corset
pictured below. We have been proud since our inception
in 1990 to have encouraged a number of seamstresses
to move into corsetry, and to give young corsetieres like
Jill a platform to develop their skills and quality as
they come to fully understand what is needed by the
serious, tight-lacing corset enthusiast. Some move on to
specialize in other garments or into other fields of
endeavor, while others pursue their own independent
business. Yet we feel part of all of their many successes!
However, we are pleased to report that over our many years
in business, most young corsetmakers become highly
experienced and move onto our senior ROMANTASY team,
as they develop their professional fitting, construction,
and design skills over many years. For example, Sheri
has been with us since 1994 and Sharon since 1994.
You may take pride, as we do, in encouraging and
supporting both new and experienced corsetieres
when you order from this line of corsets. We know you
will appreciate your corset for many years
to come. We hope you will become one of our valued
clients who moves on to try
more highly embellished couture designs and complex styles
made by ROMANTASY's highly-skilled,
tight-lacing quality senior corsetmakers, as you surely
will want to add to your corset wardrobe over the years.

PRODUCTION TIME: You may typically expect delivery in under
two months. Please review this line's
fabric choices.
MEASUREMENTS: Please understand that we rely on
your accuracy and measurements to construct your corset
and therefore cannot be responsible if you mis-measure.
However if we note anything terribly amiss, we will contact
you for clarification.
Some amendments possibly can be made to a completed corset
but understandably these will be at your cost. To ensure
the best possible fit if you are preparing measurements you
may wish to consult the body graphic contained on this page.
Start by wearing lingerie, underwear, or a bathing suit.
Tie a ribbon or string around your waistline. Locate that
at your natural waistline, or where you desire your waist
to be when wearing a corset (for standard figures, women typically 1" above
the bellybutton, for me typically 1" below the belly button.
For fuller figures, look in the mirror and select the peoper
waistline you desire). It is always better to have someone take your measurements
three times, then report the average. Be sure you measure snugly
at the waistline, and somewhat looser around the rib cage
with arms down (do not let tape drop in back;
hold at bra level; the rib cage is around your lower bra underwire), and pelvis. Be sure that you also measure from
centerfront of your body to the corset bottom,
sufficiently low to cover the lower tummy while both
standing and sitting. Note that if your centerfront
waist to top measurement exceeds 1 3/4" higher than your
sidefront waist to underwire or chest swell, this constitutes
a "sharp point" style and will incur the noted upcharge.
Typically that center front waist to top measurement will
only be 1" taller than the side front one.
A final word before you decide this Line is for
you, or if you should consider our moderately higher
priced Elegant Line of corsetry. We are ONLY able
to offer you amazingly good custom corset prices in this
Specialty Line if you conduct your own research and
order online and if you have not already commenced
detailed discussions and emails or opened an order
regarding an Elegant Line corset order. If so, then
change to this Line will
entail a modest Change Order fee of $50.
Welcome to the truly magical world of corsetry, and to
the wonderful group of corset enthusiasts around the
world in whose good company your order places you!
